Presbyterian Church (USA) is asking application for Racial Ethnic Leadership Supplemental Scholarships. If you are an African American Student then you can apply for this Scholarship. You will get up to $1000 from Racial Ethnic Leadership Supplemental Scholarships. Presbyterian Church (USA) offers Approximately 18 to 20 awards offered annually

Eligibility for Racial Ethnic Leadership Supplemental Scholarships

In order to be eligible for this scholarship student must
  • Student must be a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
  • Student must be enrolled full time.
  • Must attend a theological seminary related to or in covenant with Presbyterian Churches (U.S.A.). The following schools are eligible: Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Columbia Theological Seminary, University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, McCormick Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary, San Francisco Theological Seminary, Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Auburn Theological Seminary, and Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico.
  • Student must be a racial ethnic student (e.g., African American, Alaska Native, Asian American, Hispanic American, or Native American).
  • Student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Student must be enrolled in one of the following programs with plans to work in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): a M.A.C.E. (Master of Arts, Christian Education) program; or a M.Div. (Master of Divinity) program. M.Div. students in their first or second years Student must be enrolled as inquirers or candidates by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) presbyteries before the application deadline to be considered for an award; students in their third year Student must be candidates. M.A.C.E. students are not required to be inquirer/candidate, but Student must be recommended by the Committee on Preparation for Ministry.
  • Student must be working on obtaining his/her first graduate degree. Students who already have one of the eligible degrees and are working on another are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Must have been awarded the Presbyterian Study Grant and have remaining financial need.

How to apply for the Racial Ethnic Leadership Supplemental Scholarships:

In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: 
  • a completed 'Biographical Questionnaire' (part of the application); 
  • a resume or curriculum vitae of two pages or less that includes academic background, most recent employment, service, and accomplishments/awards; a double-spaced essay of 1,000 words on the topic listed on the application; an endorsement his/her faculty adviser or a professor. 
  • A first-year student may seek endorsement from the director of admissions at the seminary he/she plans to attend if no advisor or instructor is readily available. 
  • The application and all supporting materials must be postmarked by the deadline date.

Please note: To be eligible, the student must also file his/her Free Application for Federal Student Aid by June 1. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The PC-USA will send a 'Financial Information Form' to the student's financial aid office for completion after the student has submitted his/her application. The student's FAFSA must be on file in order for this form to be completed.
