American Planning Association is asking application for Judith McManus Price Scholarships. If you are an African American Student then you can apply for this Scholarship. You can get up to $4000 annually from Judith McManus Price Scholarships. The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, two awards were given.
Eligibility for Judith McManus Price Scholarships
In order to be eligible for this scholarship student must
- Student must be a female.
- Student must be a member of one of the following minority groups: African American, Hispanic American, and Native American.
- Student must be a U.S. citizen.
- Student must be enrolled or officially accepted for enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate planning program accredited by the PAB (Planning Accreditation Board).
- Student must intend to pursue a career as a practicing planner in the public sector (which includes local, state, and federal government and not-for-profits).
How to apply for the Judith McManus Price Scholarships:

To apply for the scholarship, the student must submit the following materials:
- A two-page personal and background statement describing how his/her graduate education will be applied to career goals and why he/she chose planning as a career path;
- A completed and signed Financial Aid Application (available on the APA website);
- Two letters of recommendation in support of his/her application and career goals;
- Official transcripts of all previous collegiate and graduate academic work (sent by the registrar's office to APA in time for the application deadline);
- Written verification from the school's financial officer or copies of a school publication or website indicating the average cost of one academic year of graduate school;
- A resume (optional if the information is supplied in the personal statement);
- Copy of acceptance letter from a PAB-accredited graduate planning school (incoming students only); and an optional notarized statement of financial independence signed by his/her parent(s) certifying that he/she will not be taken as a tax deduction in the year for which the scholarship is sought and will not receive financial aid from the parents.
Completed application packets must be sent electronically (either as email attachments or links to online documents such as Drop box or Google Docs) to students@planning.org. The subject line must be "Judith McManus Price Scholarship-[student's last name]". All application materials must be received by the deadline date. It is important that your application form is fully and accurately completed.
