The scholarship enables medical scientists at the outset of their careers to undertake a period of further study or research at the University’s Medical School and return to Poland.

Background

The Polish School of Medicine Memorial Fund was set up in 1986 by former members of staff, graduates, alumni and friends of the School to commemorate the endeavours of the School at The University of Edinburgh from 1941 and 1949 and to foster academic links between The University of Edinburgh and Poland.
A variable numbers of scholarship will be made available each year. These will normally take the form of a subsistence allowance for a period of up to 12 months. In the case of distance learning students, a contribution will be made to the course fees only, normally for the full duration of the course. Travel costs to and from Edinburgh are not covered. In 2015-2016, the subsistence allowance will be approx. £15,000 per year and will be awarded on a pro rata basis.
